HomePlaylistsKnown From10 Best Songs From GTA: San Andreas
In ‘Known From’ we provide you with music you probably haven’t heard for a while. Twelve (!) years ago, Rockstar Games released Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. It’s one of the best sold games worldwide and still a huge success. A few years ago you daily took the role of Carl Johnson. While you were running, driving, flying and shooting through the streets of Los Santos, Las Venturas, the countryside and San Fierro, you heard one of the best soundtracks ever. Do you remember K-Rose, Bounce FM, KD-ST or Radio Los Santos? It was always hard to choose the channel. These are the 10 best songs from GTA: San Andreas.
GTA: San Andreas Theme song
First things first, we can’t start this list without the GTA: San Andreas theme song by Ben Morfitt. Every time you started the game, you heard this tune. Remember the graffiti spray?
#10. Ice Cube – It Was A Good Day
Radio Los Santos was the Hiphop station. When driving the Los Santos streets, this station had your tunes. And while you were trying to put the ‘Groove’ back on track with your ‘friends’ Ryder and Big Smoke, Ice Cube came out of the speakers. That was a Good Day!
#9. Depeche Mode – Personal Jesus

Of course, every GTA: San Andreas gamer has their own favorite channel, because there is music for everyone. Although it was hard to choose only one channel. The country music lover listens to K-Rose and all the reggae lovers tuned in on K-Jah West. Radio X was the station with alternative rock and heavy metal, presented by DJ Sage. Depeche Mode was on the Radio X playlist, with ‘Personal Jesus’. Thank God.
#8. Living Colour – Cult Of Personality
Every time you were racing in a stadium, you heard this song. ‘Cult Of Personality’ was the soundtrack in every stadium in every city. And let’s be fair: It’s the perfect stadium tune.
#7. Johnny Harris – Oddysey
Remember the lowrider? And what about the lowrider dancing? Cars aren’t supposed to dance so this was a pretty hard mission. All the time you were dancing with your car, Johnny Harris was providing the music. Good (or frustrating, because it was a hard mission) memories!
#6. Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers – Runnin’ Down On A Dream
The K-DST playlist consisted of the best classic rock music. Tommy ‘The Nightmare’ Smith was the DJ, played by no one else than Guns ‘N Roses-frontman Axl Rose. Fun fact: Guns ‘N Roses-track ‘Welcome to the Jungle’ wasn’t on the K-DST playlist, but on the Radio X playlist, so he didn’t announced his own song, too bad. A song he did announce was ‘Runnin’ Down On A Dream’ by Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers.
#5. Ronnie Hudson – West Coast Poplock
This is one of those songs you can magically sing a long, even when you probably haven’t heard it for a while. Or at least the part: ‘Califooooornia, knows how to partyy’! The song by Ronnie Hudson was on the Bounce FM playlist, the Funk and R&B channel.
#4. Dr. Dre ft. Snoop Dogg – Deep Cover
Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg both appear several times on the Radio Los Santos playlist, so it’s hard to pick only one, but we did anyway. ‘Deep Cover’ brings you directly back in the Los Santos ‘hood’. The HipHop playlist contains more big artists, like 2Pac, N.W.A. and Cypress Hill.
#3. Hank Williams – Hey Good Lookin’
When on the countryside, you automatically listened to country music. Because in whatever car you stepped, K-Rose was on. ‘Because all Americans love a cowboy’, do you remember? Hate it or love it, but the country music was indispensable on GTA: San Andreas.
#2. America – A Horse With No Name
Driving with 3 police cars behind you and 1 helicopter above was just a normal day in GTA: San Andreas. The contrast couldn’t be any bigger whenever this song was on. While you were driving with high heart rate, adrenaline and 5 police stars through Las Venturas, the quiet sound of ‘A Horse With No Name’ came from the speakers. Nice.
#1. Kool and the Gang – Hollywood Swinging
Besides driving, shooting, murdering and flying, CJ was also a pretty good dancer. Remember the mission ‘Life’s a Beach’? You had to dance on the beach for a girl. What you might not know, is that all the time you were dancing, you were listening to ‘Hollywood Swinging’ by Kool and the Gang. The track was also on the Bounce FM playlist. Because of the recognizable sound and the good memories, ‘Hollywood Swinging’ is our number 1 in the GTA: San Andreas playlist.
What’s your favorite?
It wasn’t easy to make this list, because the GTA: San Andreas soundtrack consists of more beautiful music. What about David Bowie? And ‘Nuthin’ But A ‘G’ Thang’? Or did you prefer the reggae station? The complete soundtrack is on our Spotify! Enjoy!

K-Rose is a classic country music radio station in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, hosted by Mary-Beth Maybell (voiced by Riette Burdick).
Description
Gta San Andreas Music Playlist
K-Rose pokes fun of stereotypical redneck things, with idents that imply incest, bestiality, drunkness and gun culture. The station is also proud of its cowboy identity, boasting 'if this is what cowboys listen to, no wonder they invented the electric guitar!'
K-Rose's host, Mary-Beth Maybell, is a loud, obnoxious, opinionated woman with a Southern accent that expresses her views on marriage, sex and random topics such as plastic surgery. In-between songs, Maybell often provides various insights into her family life, often mentioning her nine children and the suspicious circumstances surrounding the deaths of her six husbands (she likes to think that Darwinism's 'survival of the fittest' is also applied to marriage), and occasionally plays a harmonica 'down south'.
The station broadcasts from an unspecified location in Bone County.
